Dead famous

July 2, 2009

In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m not that fussed about Michael Jackson’s death. Actually, I am in a way, because it has lead to a good week’s worth of tasteless jokes, especially good when aimed at the girlfriend’s housemate who not only broke the news of his passing at the most inopportune moment, but also really likes (liked?) the guy and so gets extra annoyed at them.

Anywho, I found this cartoonvia a trawl from blog to blog to blog, which I feel properly sums up the most momentous event this decade:

Put a "BBC News" logo on and it could pass for the real thing

Another one from Prozacville. I can’t help but feel that this applies to far too many of my friends

How many prozac pills does it take to change a lightbulb?

"How many prozac pills does it take to change a lightbulb? (part 2)" from Prozacville.co.uk

I’m catching up on my unread blogs and webcomics, and came across this picture which I just had to share from the under rated but always brilliant Prozacville.

Happy Easter!

March 21, 2008

The best bit about being atheist is that I can pick and choose the bits of religious festivals I feel like celebrating (like eating Easter eggs or receiving Christmas presents) and drop the not-so-nice bits (I gave up Lent for Lent several years back, and haven’t resumed the habit since).

Anyways, this will make me giggle to myself for the next month or so. So I’ll share, so even if you don’t giggle, at least you’ll know why I am:

Anyways, proper post coming soon…

(The title is a reference to Dennis the Menace and similar comics, if you didn’t get it. I don’t normally talk like that.)

Anywho, first off I give you a song, stolen from The Trouple With Spikol, which I think is awesome and made me laugh out loud here at work:

Link as WordPress won’t do embedding properly

And secondly, a plug for a new webcomic to me, Wondermark. To kick things off, here’s a recent, and topical (telling HP fans who haven’t read the book yet the ending is one of my favourite pastimes at the moment) comic:

Paedofinder General?

May 30, 2007

In a story that would make the Paedofinder General proud, the hysterical masses in the guise of Warriors for Innocence have gone on a frankly ridiculous livejournal censorship session, encouraging lj owners Six Apart to remove all blogs mentioning incest, rape, or anything to do with possible paedophilia.

Don’t get me wrong – I want to keep kiddy porn off the net as much as the next man (well, depends on who the next man is :P ). But the issue is, if you were really into that stuff, you wouldn’t post it online in such an overt way. Yet if you were for example a survivor running a support group, you would. So by doing this the only people who will be harmed are those who already have been. I wish people would think sometimes.

If it wasn’t for revision, I’d have a major rant. But instead, here’s the most recent PBF comic because it made me laugh.

Because revision is stressful…

This made me giggle, so hopefully it will do the same for you:
